⚠️KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! This Week’s E. coli Testing Results Are Now Available

The E. coli test results for water samples collected yesterday varied significantly across monitoring locations. Elevated bacteria levels were widespread: every single county monitored (Clarke, Warren, Page, and Shenandoah) had at least one site exceeding the EPA’s recommended safety threshold for primary body-contact recreation (235 CFU/100 mL), accounting for 5 out of the 12 locations tested.

Clarke County

Main-stem Shenandoah River at Castleman’s Ferry PBL, Route 7 bridge (FC08): E. coli levels were measured at 410.6 MPN CFU/100 mL.

Warren County

Manassas Run (FW36): Located above the confluence with the Main-stem Shenandoah River, E. coli levels were measured at 435.2 MPN/100 mL.
Main-stem Shenandoah River at Morgan’s Ford PBL (FW35): Just downstream of the confluence with Manassas Run, E. coli levels were measured at 275.5 MPN CFU/100 mL.

Page County

Hawksbill Creek (FPHCTL): Located along the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway Trail downstream of the pedestrian bridge at the Town of Luray Pocket Park, E. coli levels were measured at 235.9 MPN CFU/100 mL.

Shenandoah County

North Fork Shenandoah River at Meem’s Bottom Covered Bridge (FSMB): E. coli levels were measured at 261.3 MPN CFU/100 mL.
