Our Laboratory

Friends of the Shenandoah River (FOSR) operates, maintains, and funds our science-based driven water-quality testing laboratory and monitoring programs.  FOSR operates a Virginia Department of Environmental Quality level III accredited water-quality testing laboratory in a space that is generously provided by Shenandoah University, via a partnership that began in 1994, on its main campus in Winchester, Virginia. Professional staff operate FOSR’s water-quality testing lab, and a team of dedicated volunteer citizen-scientists is essential to the success of many our water-quality monitoring programs. The scientifically proven testing procedures implemented at our laboratory assures that quality data are being compiled.  In the scientific, environmental, and educational community, the work performed by FOSR’s water-quality testing lab is held in high regard.
